Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated and experienced General Ledger Supervisor to oversee our finance team with a focus on reconciliations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and providing leadership and guidance to the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger accounting and proven supervisory experience.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of the general ledger accounting team, including the reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

Ensure the accuracy and completeness of reconciliations and adherence to accounting standards and company policies.

Review reconciliation processes and procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.

Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to accounting staff to support their professional development.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of reconciliation activities.

Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements and best practices.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

B+ to C1 proficiency in English and native fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken.

Good Accounting skills: Understanding of UUSS GAPP and/or IFRS is preferred

Reconciliation Skills: Proficiency in reconciling various types of accounts such as bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and intercompany accounts. This includes identifying discrepancies, investigating variances, and resolving issues efficiently.

Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously review financial data and identify discrepancies or errors in account balances. Being detail-oriented is crucial to ensure accuracy in financial records.

Leadership: Ability to lead by example, providing guidance and direction to team members, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting professional growth. Mentoring and coaching junior team members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and performance within the team.

Analytical Acumen: The ability to analyze extensive financial data, spotting trends, anomalies, and insights vital for maintaining data accuracy.

System Competence: Familiarity with accounting software and ERPs like SAP or Oracle, along with advanced Excel skills for data analysis.

Effective Communication: Clear communication abilities, both written and verbal, for conveying financial information accurately.

Time Management: Efficient task prioritization to meet deadlines, especially during financial reporting periods.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Capacity to troubleshoot reconciliation discrepancies and effectively resolve issues. This may involve collaborating with other departments or stakeholders to gather necessary information and implement corrective actions.

Adaptability: Readiness to embrace changes in accounting standards and procedures, and quick adoption of new technologies.

Collaborative Spirit: Working effectively within a finance team, collaborating with controllers, analysts, and auditors.

Continuous Learning: A commitment to ongoing professional development to stay abreast of industry updates and best practices.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.

5+ years of experience in accounting, with a significant focus on account reconciliation, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.

Expert knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.

Extensive experience with complex reconciliation processes, including intercompany transactions, multi-currency reconciliations, etc.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.

Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
