Insight Global REMOTE Sr. AWS Cloud Engineer in Greer, South Carolina

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a permanent, remote cloud engineer to work for one of our financial companies' head quartered in the upstate of South Carolina. This role will report to the Director of Infrastructure at RMC and work alongside other devops, network and cloud engineers. This role is ideally looking for a candidate that will bring strong AWS experience to the team and be able to jump in and make an impact.

A strong AWS cloud engineer possesses several key components that make them effective in their role. Here are some essential skills and knowledge areas:

Experience with AWS:

An AWS cloud engineer should have hands-on experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS). This includes familiarity with various AWS services, such as EC2, ELB, RDS, and S31.

Design and Build Web Environments:

Proficiency in designing and building web environments on AWS is crucial. This involves working with services like EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud), ELB (Elastic Load Balancing), RDS (Relational Database Service), and S3 (Simple Storage Service)1.

Cloud-Native Application Development:

Strong skills in building and maintaining cloud-native applications are essential. Understanding serverless architectures, microservices, and containerization (e.g., Docker) is valuable1.

Linux/Unix and Windows Administration:

A solid background in Linux/Unix and Windows server system administration is necessary. This includes managing servers, security, and performance optimization1.

Cloud Security Best Practices:

Knowledge of cloud security principles, compliance requirements, and best practices is critical. An AWS cloud engineer should understand how to secure cloud resources effectively2.

Programming Languages:

Familiarity with programming languages like Python, Java, or C# is beneficial for scripting, automation, and infrastructure as code (IaC)2.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

Understanding IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and using them to manage infrastructure is valuable for scalability and consistency3.

Continuous Learning and Adaptability:

The cloud landscape evolves rapidly. A strong AWS cloud engineer stays updated, learns new services, and adapts to changes3.

Skills and Requirements

7+ years of demonstrated knowledge in AWS and able to hit the ground running

Strong knowledge of AWS services

Knowledge of billing in AWS (ex. make sure and understand its right sized, and tools include AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and CloudWatch billing metrics)

Experience with monitoring and logging tools (ex. Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Config, Amazon Inspector, Amazon Detective, Amazon Macie, Amazon GuardDuty, and AWS Security Hub)

Experience w/ AWS EDR ( Endpoint Detection and Response)

Experience w/ Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon FSx, and S3 null
