Greenwich Country Day School Hot Cook in Greenwich, Connecticut
The Greenwich Country Day School seeks to hire two Cooks to start in August 2024. Make Family Meals Every Day! Hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Range $25-28 an hour.

GCDS Dining Halls are self-operated. We proudly prepare and provide restaurant-quality food with a focus on sustainability in all aspects of our food service operations. We have both a container farm and an actual farm . The GCDS Dining Hall team takes great pride in serving fantastic meals to hundreds of students, faculty, and staff daily. We serve a variety of cuisines including Oaxacan, Sicilian, East African, Vietnamese, and Indian just to name a few. Our goal is not to serve just great school food, but some of the best quality food found in Connecticut!
These are full-time, 10-month/year positions. All kitchen and dining room personnel must be available to work evening and/or weekend special events, as scheduled. Diversity is a core value at GCDS and we seek candidates who demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion.
Responsibilities Include:
Prepare cooking ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep.
Serves meals by reviewing recipes; assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients
Follow all safety protocols with regard to proper sanitizing and food allergies
Producing items for the hot entree of the day as well as preparation for events
Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years experience in hotels, restaurants, and/or catering
Ability to lift 25-50+ pounds and stand for long stretches of time
Food knowledge
Friendly and outgoing disposition
Ability to work well with a team
Excellent attention to detail
Willingness to offer and accept constructive criticism for the overall improvement of the team
Ability to understand both written and verbal instructions in English
Ability to work well under pressure and with time constraints of a busy commercial kitchen
Cultural competency skills to collaborate across difference
