THIEL COLLEGE Director of the Library in Greenville, Pennsylvania

The Department of Academic Affairs of Thiel College is seeking a Director of the Langenheim Memorial Library. This full-time position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Success. We seek a strong leader for this position, committed to the values of a liberal arts education and Thiel College's Mission to prepare students for careers and lives of meaning and purpose. The Director's key responsibilities include planning, managing the budget, implementing and evaluating services, and supervising the staff of the Langenheim Memorial Library. A Master's degree in Library Science is required, and administrative experience in a college or university library is preferred. The Director provides strategic vision and leadership for the library, working effectively with faculty and staff as an advocate for the library as a central contributor to the College's mission. The position is also responsible for all aspects of library administration including budget development and control, personnel selection, management of the facilities, effective stewardship of the collection, and ongoing assessment. The Director serves on various campus committees and acts as the library's liaison to Admissions, Senior Administration, and the Board of Trustees. The Director will also provide direction for the sustainable adoption and integration of emerging technologies into the operation of the library, demonstrate forward-looking collection development and preservation, and develop library initiatives that enhance student learning. Candidate must show demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, operation and assessment, relevant technology, and developing trends in library instruction and student support. The Director values collaboration to foster an inclusive and participatory team environment and is an active listener who can support staff development and build consensus when making decisions. The candidate will also be committed to building relationships with all parts of the campus community, actively promoting the library's resources and services to students, faculty, staff, and members of the public. The Director will be a forward-thinking planner who can provide a sustainable vision for the library that will support existing programs while accommodating growth areas, able to meet and anticipate challenges, dedicated to enhancing digital resources, and willing to engage with the opportunity to guide a major renovation over the next few years.
