LJB INC. Construction Observer in Green Springs, Ohio
Description LJB Inc. is a national engineering firm that provides civil and structural engineering, as well as geospatial, safety and environmental services. Our diverse expertise, client base, and geographies have enabled LJB to serve clients in all 50 U.S. states and several countries. We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Observer within our Water/Civil practice to support a public client in Green Springs, Ohio. The ideal candidate will possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. CONSTRUCTION OBSERVER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Review signed contract agreements between contractor and client for construction project guidelines. * When renewing or replacing waterlines, able to check service lines for type of setting (inside meter or pit meter), whether it is a long or short service and the total number of service connections. * Complete a follow-up review of prints and a field check of all plans when engineering has been completed. * Review video tape of project prior to the start of construction. * Attend pre-construction meeting and complete daily inspections of construction of waterlines to ensure compliance with standards and regulations. * Verify delivery of all material when ordered to ensure accuracy of delivery. * Maintain daily inspection reports, mileage reports and time ticks. * Ability to complete "as-built" documentation per guidelines. * Other duties as assigned. ROADWAY DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS: Education: * High school diploma or equivalent required, technical degree preferred. Qualifications: * 3+ years of fabrication, installation and/or construction related experience required. * Understanding of construction trades and installation work. * Understanding of engineering, architectural and other construction drawings. * Desire to innovate and solve difficult problems from inception to final deliverable. * Ability to work independently and in team settings. * Ability to pass background checks, drug tests and MVR check. Physical: * Must be able to traverse worksite in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to make observations. * Understands the exposure to characteristic construction site dangers. * Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
