JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: This position will serve as the administrative leader across Brown, Door and Kewaunee Counties, which comprise Area 11 within the Division of Extension. This position will be responsible for the direct supervision and time approval for 10 employees. The person hired into this role will also oversee other staff in the area in a day-to-day supervisory capacity, including interns, faculty, AmeriCorps members, state staff, and county support staff. Area Extension Directors have primary responsibility for managing local funding relationships and related office administration, supervising local/area staff and office team culture, and overseeing local partnerships and associated communication. Area Extension Directors also provide guidance to educators as they implement programming and provide essential advice and input to educators and programs regarding local programmatic needs and funding partner needs. The Area Extension Director (AED) provides leadership, direction, and support for UW-Madison Division of Extension educational programming in Area 11 by building high performing office teams of Extension educators and county support staff, and fosters an environment that is inclusive, trusting, respectful, and collegial. The AED is responsible for managing the resources for Extension by overseeing the Extension county budgets, and state budget allocations. A successful AED will require great cultural competency to work with diverse staff and clientele and have the political savvy required to work with urban counties to identify and assess new opportunities in programming, funding, and staffing. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the AED will support the work with county governments, municipalities, and partner organizations to ensure that the educational needs of local communities are met. The AED serves as the direct supervisor for the programmatic Division of Extension staff in the Area, and provides leadership in staff development and partnerships.
