Nexstar Media Group Morning News Anchor in Grand Rapids, Michigan
WOOD-TV and WOTV-TV are looking for an experienced News Anchor to join our Daybreak team. We look at Daybreak anchors as leaders, teachers, big J Journalists and storytellers. Breaking news is at the core of what we do. This position includes opportunities to anchor live from the field. You’ll also have a chance to cover stories you’d like to tell. This position requires experience and maturity. WOOD-TV is the dominant station in West Michigan. Grand Rapids and the surrounding cities offer an unparalleled quality of life. Duties/Responsibilities
Must have solid vocal delivery and engaging camera presence.
Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner.
Must have the ability to field anchor major events with or without a prompter.
Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and stand-ups, creative graphics and use of digital and social media platforms.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism or related degree.
Six plus years television anchoring.
Understand importance of social media.
Promotes teamwork and maintains an attitude of cooperation with all station personnel.
Superior on-air presence.
Excellent news judgement with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Must be able to stand, sit, reach, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, and work outdoors in all weather conditions and indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
