Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in the maintenance, programming and repair of electronic election equipment.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the maintenance, programming and repair of electronic election equipment will substitute for one year of the required experience on a month for month basis.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Certification on the AVC Advantage and the AVC Edge voting machines.

To supervise lower-level staff in preparing all election data and ballot information and in performing maintenance on election equipment.

Broad direction from an Election Technician Manager or higher-level election staff.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over Election Technicians and lower-level maintenance staff.
LOCATION OF WORK:

Differs from Election Technician C by the presence of supervisory responsibility over employees or parish(es) within an election district or precinct.
Differs from Election Technician Manager by the absence of managerial responsibility for an entire election district(s).
Examples of Work
EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Directly supervises election equipment technicians and other related maintenance staff in the maintenance, repair, and diagnosis of mechanical/electronic problems with voting equipment.
Designs special modifications and attachments for election equipment necessary to accommodate split voting districts and overlapping voting districts.
Receives election database information and installs on personal computer based election database system.
Assists managers in determining the number and placement of electronic election equipment within the District.
Assigns electronic election equipment to polling places allocated in spreadsheet program and enters security data.
Installs local allocation database into spreadsheet program.
Organizes and conducts approved in-service training for new personnel.
Assures compliance of laws as detailed in the Louisiana Election Code (Title 18) related to elections and voting.
Conducts instructional schools for commissioners who serve at precincts on Election Day.
Prepares a schedule for cyclic power management to maintain peak performance of internal power supplies.
Organizes and manages a safety program to ensure health and safety of employees and protection of property.
Directs release of election equipment after elections.
Performs acceptance testing of electronic election equipment which includes visual inspection, testing of all electronic functions, recognizing malfunctions and taking appropriate action to make necessary corrections.
Make recommendations to Managers and Administrators regarding acceptance of equipment.
Communicates on a continuous basis with local officials, general public, poll workers, etc.
Assists in retabulation and verification of election data with parish officials/board of election supervisor.
Inspects all equipment during and after sealing process to assure that proper procedures and laws are observed.
Conducts logic and accuracy tests using programmable memory devices containing vote simulation program. Supervises post election logic and accuracy tests on voting machines.
Collects security data from voting machines to be entered into spreadsheet program and/or record of election.
Oversees replacement of defective components in election equipment.
Compiles data for all reports, schedules, and necessary information as required -- i.e., inventory reports, records of elections, time sheets, etc.
