Job Description OVERVIEW As a Senior R&D Scientist in the Cereal & Snacks Technology Team (CST), you will have the opportunity to create, adapt, and implement new technology across Global Cereal & Snacks. You will be expected to effectively leverage internal and external technical expertise to identify and advance technical solutions to deliver business impact today and for the future. Your initial focus will be on Totino's analog cheese of the future and will quickly expand into exciting growth areas such as Fruit Snacks. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to turn possibilities into reality through food science to deliver top- and bottom-line growth leveraging your strong technical, influence, innovation, and project management skills. You will lead conceptualization and development of new technologies or existing technologies applied in new ways. You will be responsible for partnering across ITQ, Engineering, and Supply Chain to deliver technology-enabled business impact. This position will help you further develop technical depth, expand technical breadth, hone technology-enabled innovation skills, and grow influence skills at multiple levels across the technical community, cross-functional team, and supply chain. This position will leverage your existing knowledge in food science and give you the opportunity to expand this knowledge by collaborating with NTS experts in their fields of expertise. This role will have you working closely with the engineers within Snacks technology who lead our 12Q technology roadmaps for Totino's, Fruit, and Bars, giving you the opportunity to influence our technology pipelines. Successful candidates will differentially excel at creating and leveraging advantaged connections in and outside the technical community to connect dots between business problems and technology capabilities to bring big and ownable solutions to the marketplace. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide technical leadership to identify, develop and implement new or adapted ingredient, food science or formulation technologies to unlock new opportunities or solve problems. Leverage internal and external technical expertise to advance learning quickly. Embrace digital capabilities to accelerate experimentation and learning. Manage multiple competing priorities and flex prioritization based on business needs across cereal and snack product categories. Collaborate with supply chain, suppliers, internal/external experts to provide line of site on technical feasibility. Lead complex projects from feasibility through development and/or implementation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Masters in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineer or other related fields with a strong foundational knowlege of food science, food chemistry or physical chemistry in food and 4+ years of experience in product development, formulation, or food science OR Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other related fields with 3+ years of experience in product development, formulation, or food science An understanding of ingredient, formulation & processing interactions Ability to partner internally and externally to bring inspiration and new technical ideas Strong communication skills to partner with cross functional partners, internal & external stakeholders Ability to build and leverage an internal and external technology ecosystem Highly agile and able to adapt to multiple situations with learning mindset Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Innovative thinker, creative, willing to challenge established methods and beliefs to solve problems creatively and efficiently Demonstrated ability to lead technology driven projects with a strong passion for science ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $90100.00 - $135300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
