One of our partners in the Georgetown, KY area is looking to expand their IT team with the addition of a Sr. Windows Engineer need that is fully onsite. This person will need to be able to convert permanent without assistance after six months of the initial contract.

Location: Georgetown, KY (100% Onsite)

Duration: Six Month Contract-to-Hire

Position Summary:

This position involves managing Microsoft infrastructure at the company. This encompasses infrastructure planning, implementation, and support. During the planning stage, the position recommends infrastructure upgrades within annual budgetary guidelines to support company growth. Additionally, it participates in specific projects requiring IT resources, ensuring proper pricing and operational support. The implementation stage focuses on hardware and software

configuration, while the support stage addresses infrastructure issues during service outages.

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the Windows Server environment (from 2012/R2 to the latest version).

• Recommend annual upgrades, participate in project planning, and contribute to disaster recovery strategies.

• Ensure maximum uptime for the Microsoft ecosystem.

• Oversee Active Directory, Azure Active Directory (Entra), and Exchange Online.

• Implement and manage a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) solution.

• Configure and administer backups, including using Veeam Backup software.

• Conduct security scans, generate reports, and implement necessary remediation.

• Automate tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Ansible, and Python.

• Create, apply, and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs).

• Deploy solutions across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation related to daily job functions, procedures, and system configurations.

• Identify opportunities to improve performance, capacity, and scalability.

• Prepare for hyper-converged infrastructure and elastic cloud deployments.

• Provide second-level support for daily technical issues related to users and network systems.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Technology or and/or relevant experience

• Microsoft Certifications and/or relevant experience

Technical Experience:

• 5+ experience in administering Windows Server environments from 2012/R2 through latest version.

• In-depth knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy.

• Experience with Azure Active Directory (Entra) and Exchange Online.

• Proficiency in scripting languages, with a preference for PowerShell.

• Working understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and DNS.

• Experience with file sharing, security measures, monitoring, and performance optimization.

• Ability to deploy solutions across on-premises, virtual, and cloud environments.

• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance abilities in a Microsoft environment.

• Excellent documentation skills.

  Nice to Have Technical Experience:

• Experience with Linux administration.

• Familiarity with MS-SQL, SharePoint, and IIS.

• Knowledge of SANs, high availability, and disaster recovery techniques.
