Responsibilities and Impact:

The Legal Counsel will be a member of the SPGM legal department, which is comprised of attorneys who support the division’s commercial organization, product development/technology functions and business management/leadership.

  • You will work in a dynamic, flexible, client-facing (both internal and external) environment and will have the opportunity to work independently and be part of a legal team that provides crucial support to the organization.

  • You will be supporting a wide range of automotive related data products and work with sales and product teams that are based globally.

  • Excellent opportunities to work on broad range of legal matters and have international exposure.

  • Involvement in commercial transactions, ad-hoc business projects, as well as assisting with special projects such as research, process review and innovation, and information review and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, negotiating and drafting wide variety of agreements including data licenses, services, maintenance, web-based services, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements and other commercial contracts.

  • Support sales and other business teams including shared services groups and provide them with innovative business solutions.

  • Interact and work closely with the legal team members and provide strategic and legal inputs on matters across different business areas.

  • Be involved in special projects for the development of the business division.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a legal counsel with commercial, contracts and general legal experience from a law firm or in-house.

  • Must have a law degree from a university.

  • Excellent command in spoken and written English.

  • Experienced in reviewing, drafting and negotiating legal documents in English.

  • Requires a practical business-oriented mindset to problem-solving.

  • Must be able to effectively counsel internal clients by providing them with clear, concise and pragmatic advice, and creative solutions where necessary, on established timelines to meet their business needs.

  • Must be able to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive attitude to the workplace and works collaboratively with other members of the legal team and with internal clients.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally, be admitted as a solicitor.

  • Knowledge of licensing contracts, IP and data privacy matters is a plus.
