Job Title: HR Advisor

Role Purpose

The HR Advisor will drive operational excellence and an employee centric service to ensure we are responsive to all employees, which in turn enables our colleagues to remain energised and focused on their role deliverables.

Working closely with an experienced HR Business Partner, you will provide first class employee relations support, advice and guidance to managers and team members of Travelex nationally.

The key priorities of the role will include providing guidance and support on the full range of employee relations issues and being the “point of contact” for day to day, “second level” queries, e.g. providing advice/guidance on the interpretation and application of policy in response to employee/manager queries.

In addition the HR Advisor will work on the delivery of project based outcomes to support the delivery of the Strategic HR Plan and also provide “critical” administrative “back up” support to the HR Coordinator as required.

The HR Advisor will be the main point of contact for the management teams across Travelex and have a strong reporting relationship to the HRBP who will coach and provide support/guidance to the HR Advisor on a day to day basis. The HR Advisor will in turn provide the same coaching and support/guidance to the HR Coordinator.

Key Deliverables:

  • Oversee and manage all ER cases within their given account, including general advice and guidance on the full spectrum of ER policy, employment law and employee relations practice to managers

  • Coach/support managers in resolving underperformance

  • Coach/support managers in resolving long term ill health/absence issues including attending home visits (via telephone), organising occupational health assessments (via the HR Coordinator), identifying adjustments and obtaining medical reports (via the HR Coordinator).

  • Managing high risk cases, with the support of the HRBP.

  • Handle employee relations queries including personal “welfare” type issues raised by employees and Managers

  • Coach/support managers in resolving disciplinary, grievance and appeal issues and attend meetings/take notes (via telephone the majority of occasions).

  • Support/guide managers on disciplinary investigation requirements

  • Escalate to HR Business Partner any ACAS early conciliation claims for response or Employment Tribunal applications/potential claims

  • Coach/support managers in resolving flexible working requests

  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on maternity/paternity/parental leave and other “family friendly” statutory entitlements/company policy

  • Support managers in resolving probation related issues

  • First point of contact for all higher-level ER queries

  • Responsible for the coaching and development of the HR Coordinator

HR Support

  • Able to provide back up support to HR Administrator when needed in respect of the “critical” HR administrative tasks

  • Support HRBP with ad hoc project work

Learning and Development

  • Support HR Business Partner / L&D with HR learning and development as and when required.

  • Maintains employment law knowledge by regular reading/ seminars (case law, updates, EAT decisions, legal updates)

Management Information

  • Highlight trends in ER case work and make recommendations to reduce “time spent” where possible.

  • Supporting HRBP with data packs including attrition, new hire retention, VIBE and survey feedback

Improvement Projects

  • Identify improvements to ER HR Policy and documentation. Recommend updates as required to HR Business Partner
