Job Description

  1. Occupational Summary (Position Objective & Authorities)

Objective:

Supervises the fabrication and assembly of Proto Operations to ensure optimal performance of all prototype shops. Manages and sets schedules, manpower allocation, cost, 6S/lean requirements and safety standards. Coordinates product changes and requirements with other internal departments and suppliers. Ensure quality standards, employee training and employee engagement in the department. Works closely with Supervisor over cushion/cover development and Proto Procurement. Works under general supervision.

Authorities:

This position has the power and control to carry out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable regulations including: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, evaluate performance, appraisal rewarding and disciplining employees.

  1. Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

Main Function Responsibilities

List the current duties and responsibilities each which account for more than 5-10% of the incumbent's time or are critical to the successful performance of the job

A) Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company's policies and applicable laws.

B) Supervisory responsibilities include but may not be limited to interviewing, and training employees; maintaining employee training matrix; planning, assigning, and directing work in the department; appraising employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving employee problems.

C) Maintains an effective safety program and works with the company HSE department to prevent injuries and lost time incidents or accidents.

D) Work with IPT to set and maintain project schedules for CDR, Sales/Marketing Samples, Development and Certification seat builds ensuring Quality conformity and written standard work and processes.

E) Develops and maintains strong, positive communications and coordinates effectively with the Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, PMO, and within the Engineering department.

F) Supervises work and material to maintain schedules to meet on-time-delivery of projects. Ensures all seats are properly prepared and inspected prior to show/shipment.

G) Actively involves all employees in taking corrective action to achieve highest levels of product quality that meet or exceeds quality standards.

H) Creates an atmosphere for development of new concepts, ideas and methods to support continuous improvement in the department.

I) Responsible for accurate timekeeping records and vacation schedules of employees.

J) Responsible for adherence to FAA and OSHA requirements.

K) Reviews drawing packages for nonstandard material and hardware.

L) Communicate and document design issues to Engineering through the use of Problem Work Sheet (PWS).

M) Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  1. Qualification Requirements

A. Education & Qualification List the Scholarship degree, type, etc. i.e.:

• Requires an Associates in Business Management or related technical field OR 3 years related experience in lieu of an Associate's level degree to meet the education requirement

B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge •

• Additionally a minimum three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

• At least one year of leadership or delegated supervisory experience is required.

C. Professional Skills

• Must have knowledge of Pro/E, Catia, Microsoft Project, Word and Excel.

• Must have MRP and scheduling experience.

• Must be able to purchase materials and products from outside vendors.

• Must have a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.

• Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.

• Ability to read and review written communication.

• Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

D. Behavioral Skills

• Must be able to effectively interact with all departments.

• Must have the ability to direct and motivate other employees.

E. Desirable Aspects

• Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes in a machining and sheet metal environment, good working knowledge of Microsoft excel and Powerpoint, good working knowledge of assembly functions, good with working several tasks at the same time.

  1. General Work Conditions (Physical Demands)

Physical Demands: This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, computer and copy machine, etc. Bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job
