UL, LLC Operations Manager- RF in Fremont, California

UL Solutions is seeking an Operations Manager - RF for a hybrid role based in Fremont, CA.

  • Leads and reviews comprehensive test programs, communicating project updates to clients and sales teams.

  • Defines project scope, creates test plans, and coordinates laboratory operations to meet deadlines.

  • Manages laboratory operations for a team of 80-90 people in RF, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 standards.

  • Demonstrates expertise in managing complex laboratory operations, particularly in EMC Wireless Testing, adhering to international and domestic standards.

  • Represents UL at industry events and serves as the SME for local standards and certification programs.

  • Manages a team, sets goals, and ensures revenue generation and cost management.

  • Develops, implements, and oversees capacity and capability management initiatives with guidance from senior leadership.

  • Ensures efficient workflow by collaborating with cross-functional leads to understand scope and technical requirements, thereby assigning resources effectively.

  • Drives continuous process improvement efforts using Lean Sigma principles to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Manages team performance and development, fostering a culture of high performance and growth.

  • Actively supports and drives high-performance culture changes and transformation efforts within the UL matrix structure.

  • Holds team and self accountable for results, working with senior leadership to define and execute strategic goals and performance metrics.

  • Provides coaching and career development support to team members, fostering high morale and performance.

  • Ensures compliance with established policies and requirements, promoting a culture of integrity and accountability.

  • Enhances customer loyalty by anticipating needs, providing proactive solutions, and gathering and responding to feedback.

  • May oversee testing program establishment and coordination of activities within designated operations, exercising independent judgment in developing test procedures beyond existing standards.

  • Provides technical guidance and judgment to resolve customer issues and complete projects effectively.

  • Ensures quality and compliance with policies and standards, empowering the team to achieve established key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Supports team compliance with project requirements, scope changes, and customer notifications, negotiating completion dates and sample requirements as needed.

  • Communicates UL's vision, mission, policies, and requirements, promoting a positive customer experience.

  • Leads and embraces change, fostering trust and collaboration within the organization and with customers.

  • Builds strong cross-functional networks and global relationships to promote UL's reputation as a fast, high-quality, customer-centric organization.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business Administration, Management, Physics, or a related field, with approximately 7-9 years of relevant experience.

  • Proven ability to establish and oversee objectives, staffing, and budgets.

  • Possesses knowledge of how decisions impact business outcomes, collaborates effectively with diverse teams, and engages in strategic planning.

  • Capable of managing employee performance by setting expectations, addressing issues, identifying training needs, and planning staffing levels.

  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data, process documents, and plans.

  • Comfortable with taking calculated risks and developing contingency plans.

  • Demonstrates understanding of the challenges associated with working in diverse cultural environments.

  • Total Rewards: .The salary range for this position is $139,700.00-$158,270.00+ and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. UL offers a generous 401k matching structure of up to 5% of eligible pay. Additionally, we invest an additional 4% into your retirement saving fund after your first year of continuous employment. We provide Healthcare Reimbursement Accounts and Health Savings Accounts that UL contributes to twice per year! Depending on your role, you can work with your manager on flexible working arrangements. We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation, holiday, sick and volunteer time off.
