Summary:

The Project Manager will actively manage capital and other projects at the Cote Blanche Mine to support all departments. He/she will act as project manager as well as construction manager for projects providing oversight to project progression from concept to completion. He/she will generate a WBS, schedule, and project plan for projects, manage contractors and personnel, forecast and track spending, and provide technical and engineering support where needed. The Project Manager will serve as a member of the Technical Services leadership team and will be expected to collaborate effectively. The Project Manager will function with a high degree of autonomy and report directly to the Technical Services Manager, Cote Blanche.

Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Act as Project Manager and/or Construction Manager for planned/engineered large projects. Collaborate and work closely with Technical Services department to manage the projects developed through respective group.

• Act as Project Manager for capital and other projects identified by individual project organizers onsite. Identify scope and develop a WBS, schedule, and budget. Collaborate with technical services to support engineering needs. Collaborate with Procurement to obtain cost estimates for materials and contract labor. Collaborate with Site departments to estimate in-house labor resources.

• Communicate effectively and transparently with all other departments to maintain role clarity.

• Prepare Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) where appropriate and manage capital projects to meet company objectives. Provide information to corporate capital group to advance projects through CAR process.

• Act as subject matter expert for Unifier and be the Site administrator.

• Work with Site Controller to track and report capital budget & individual project performance with effective forecasting for projects responsible to oversee.

• Support department and Site budget process, collaborating with finance, technical services, operations, procurement, and maintenance groups to prepare annual budget presentations.

• Assemble data to support forecasts, budgets, mine plans and strategic 10-year plan.

• Collaborate with various SMEs to develop appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

• Ensure Technical Review processes are followed including the management of change (MOC) process, document control and drawing updates, EPL updates, etc.

• Manage Change Orders throughout project and ensure drawing and parts modifications are properly documented where applicable.

• Manage contactors to ensure safety, quality, and cost control. Report project progress at least monthly or as often as required depending on complexity.

• Work closely with engineering consultants, suppliers, and internal staff to ensure designs meet standards set by Compass Minerals.

• Conduct PSSR audits and ensure punch lists resulting from the PSSR are completed.

• Collaborate with and keep corporate engineering group informed about all projects engaged at Cote Blanche.

• Support engineering work on projects when or if Technical Services resources are constrained.

• Work closely with and support Maintenance department projects where needed.

• Support Compass Hoist Best Practices. Collaborate with Maintenance department to represent Site regarding hoist best practices team. Support project work to inspect and maintain hoists and shafts, including shaft grouting.

• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Minimum of 3 years managing projects and project management accreditation

• Minimum of 5 to 7 years supporting a mining or industrial operation with 3 years management experience

• Windows based computer skills – excellent in spreadsheets, word documents, and presentation software – efficient in project management software – familiar with AutoCAD and/or mining software

• Experience with lean manufacturing/six sigma a plus

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred) or equivalent work experience
