Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a world leader in cloud services, operating large-scale, high-density centers across the globe. We are expanding our technician teams within the EMEA regions and have openings for Installation Technicians. It's a unique opportunity to work in some of the most innovative and fast paced data centers in the world.
The Infrastructure Delivery team is responsible for the scaling and physical deployment of new data center infrastructure. The Installation Technician will be primarily tasked with installing cabling and new racks within the data centers.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly motivated individual with a willingness to learn and upskill. The candidate must be able to adhere to standard processes and best practices. Candidates will be working in a team environment and must be able to communicate and promote cross-team functionality.
This position has a physical component and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities:
· Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center.
· Installation and testing of copper and Fiber Optic cabling.
· Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices.
· Creating/attaching labels and barcodes.
· Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations)
· Regularly work at heights and from ladders.
· Managing inventory of related materials.
· Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.
· Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.
· Ability to travel within geographical work area is required.
About the team
Infrastructure Delivery (InfraDelivery, or ID) is an organizational unit under InfraOps. ID was created a single team solely responsible for capacity delivery from loading dock to network element commissioning, focusing on the alignment of skillsets directly to required tasks in order to improve customer capacity delivery. Comprised of several legacy teams, ID includes Deploy, CI, DCO Builds, Late Binding, and Rack Install and Rack Decomm.
Basic Qualifications
High school or equivalent diploma
STEM classes or vocational course curriculum education
Are 18 years of age or older
Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
Work 10 hour shifts as needed
Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with Manager
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems
