Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER-TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD1193000 and is part of the KY FMS 5, National Guard. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER-TITLE 32, WG-5801-8, you will troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoot, repair and overhaul major systems. Troubleshoot equipment and diagnose the cause of mechanical failures. Remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and systems. Independently perform repairs and maintenance functions by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems. Conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and equipment. Perform operational inspections and ensure vehicles and equipment are properly serviced. May maintain and repair equipment to include removing and replacing components and elements. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Military Grades: PFC(E3)-SFC(E7) RANK REQUIREMENT: Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is located on a tobacco free facility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience using a variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts/components/accessories. Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles. Experience maintaining the operation of the various systems. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment.
