Job Summary and Qualifications

I. Position Summary:

Operates a cordless push-button switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter hospital calls.

V. Duties:

  1. Monitors the fire, Code Blue, emergency stat, weather, narcotic, and oxygen alarm systems for the protection of the patients, visitors, and employees of the hospital.

  2. Answers questions from callers in accordance with hospital policy, or refers them to the appropriate party.

  3. Takes messages for the Medical Staff.

  4. Pages authorized announcements.

  5. Maintains a current list of hospital extension numbers and required beeper numbers.

  6. Directs visitors to patients by identifying their room assignments Via the “Patient View” Locator of the

MediTech System.

  1. Assists the clergy in locating patients of the congregation Via the “Religion by Name” locator of the MediTech

System and prints a report listing patients by denomination.

  1. Performance Improvement must be a focus within the department.

  2. Review and follow policy, assist with data collection, review PI board for data results.

  3. Improved patient care/safety and physicians, patient, and employees satisfaction.

  4. Maintain an efficient and timely procedure for responding to STAT calls.

  5. Improve patient/physician/employee satisfaction .

  6. Attend department meetings as scheduled.
