We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation aircraft.
This position is onsite in Fort Worth.
Tactical Sensors - Systems Engineer
Bring your experience and ideas and help us develop the tactical sensor suite for the FLRAA aircraft.
You’ll work with a diverse team of engineers to integrate tactical sensors with the airframe, integrate the sensor suite into the overall avionics suite, and test and evaluate system performance.
This role will be an integral part of the team, working closely with customers and subcontractors. You’ll be able to hone your technical abilities on significant engineering problems, all while gaining experience in leadership and communication.
What you’ll be doing as a Tactical Sensors - Systems Engineer:
Collaborate with multiple teams including airframe integration, human factors, flight test and others to ensure the tactical sensor suite is seamlessly integrated into the aircraft and meets end-user performance requirements.
Ensure that requirements are properly decomposed such that effective component-level requirements are derived from the aircraft concept of operations (CONOPs) and customer use cases.
Act as a subject matter expert that utilizes their knowledge of tactical sensors to drive the development of the avionics architecture, sensor installation, and test approach.
Use model-based system engineering (MBSE) concepts to document the systems interfaces, structure, functionality and requirements.
Use modular open system architecture (MOSA) concepts to develop an architecture that is configurable and upgradable.
Interface with and manage suppliers throughout system development to ensure timely completion of design milestones and successful integration of components into the overall system.
Qualifications
Skills You Bring To this Role:
Experience with radio frequency (RF) sensors used in applications such as weather radar, synthetic aperture radar, targeting radar, radar frequency interferometer, etc.
Experience with the use of sensor systems to aid flight in degraded visual environments (DVE)
Experience integrating sensors with cockpit displays to ensure end-to-end system performance that meets human factors requirements
Experience with analysis and flight test activities used to validate the safety and effectiveness of sensor systems when installed on the aircraft
Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools including the CAMEO software suite and systems modeling language (SysML)
What you need to be successful:
Multiple levels of experience will be considered with at least 2 years work experience with optical sensors used in applications such as reconnaissance, situational awareness, targeting, etc.
Bachelor’s degree with a Major in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience.Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
Ability to gain and maintain a US Govt Security Clearance.
