Position Overview: The Accounting Supervisor will oversee and collaborate closely with the Accounting team. This role involves providing advanced specialized instruction, training, and coaching, clearly communicating job expectations, holding staff accountable for performance, and assisting in problem resolution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expert knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and regulations, and ensure that all accounting activities meet productivity standards set by the Accounting Manager. Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor Accounting personnel through instruction, training, assigning tasks, scheduling, coaching, and counseling. Set clear job expectations, monitor performance, and address performance issues promptly.

  • Accounting Expertise: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and regulations. Supervise all Staff Accountant activities to ensure accuracy in journal entries and other deliverables.

  • Reporting and Compliance: Assist with quarterly reporting tasks, including detailed review of data input, bank compliance, financial statements, and management reports. Support annual budget preparation, FIT analysis, tax entries, and year-end general ledger close.

  • Financial Analysis: Prepare and manage complex spreadsheets, charts, analyses, and advanced formulas using proficient Excel skills and various accounting software.

  • Tax Coordination: Coordinate tax return preparation with the Tax Department.

  • Financial Management: Review transfers to specific accounts, investor capital calls, reimbursements, intercompany payments, and bank reconciliations. Utilize Addepar wealth management platform for data aggregation, analysis, and reporting for multiple portfolios, ensuring reconciliation to the general ledger.

  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects as needed, demonstrating excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Operational Excellence: Perform all accounting and supervisory functions with excellent analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to focus, multitask, and prioritize work effectively.

  • Onsite Requirement: Be present in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring the ability to use standard office equipment and manage physical tasks such as frequent keyboarding, standing, sitting, and lifting up to 5 lbs.

    Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.

  • Experience: Five to seven plus years of accounting experience, with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365 with advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory role.

  • Industry Experience: Experience in family office or investment management accounting.

  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Addepar or similar market value accounting software.

  • General Ledger: Full-cycle general ledger experience.

  • Certification: CPA license preferred.
