WKU Military Student Services is seeking applications for a Military Student Support Coordinator at WKU Fort Knox. This position will work directly with the WKU Fort Knox office on post at the Fort Knox Education Center, to provide student support for servicemembers and military connected students. This position will serve as an initial entry point for military affiliated incoming students at WKU Fort Knox, connecting them to necessary student services and university offices to facilitate admissions, registration, financial assistance and other student services processes. In addition, this position will also support these students with utilizing Tuition Assistance benefits and other military and/or veteran education benefits. This position will assist with the student support initiatives of the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success at WKU and will liaison with the Military Student Services office in support of these efforts. This is a grant funded position. Continuation is dependent upon funding/need.

The following duties are customary for this position but are not all- inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the breadth of student services available through WKU for the Fort Knox campus students and liaise with colleagues at WKU Fort Knox, Fort Knox Army Education Office, and all other WKU campuses to provide a year-round student support.

  • Assist military students with access and utilization of military and Veteran Affairs education benefits, such as Military Tuition Assistance.

  • Create and help facilitate student activities and services tailored for military and veteran connected students, including traditional, hybrid, and online students.

  • As needed, assist WKU Fort Knox with advising students, such as assisting in course selection and enrollment, and looking at degree and graduation requirements.

  • Assist with outreach and campus recruitment and retention efforts such as attending community events and nurturing community relationships through routine involvement in area groups, committees, and initiatives.

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience with military and veteran connected students in higher education

  • Have an understanding of TA and VA education benefits

  • Possess a familiarity with military culture and understanding of challenges and strategies for improving student success

  • Ability to access military installations

    Additional Information:

Hourly Rate: $17.44 - $17.95
