Work Unit|Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories
Faculty and staff at the CSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories ( VDL ) are among the nation’s finest in their fields of expertise and offer comprehensive diagnostic services. The mission of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory ( VDL ) is to provide timely, accurate and pertinent animal disease diagnostic services and educational outreach to veterinarians, animal industries and animal interests. The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory will strive to meet the goals the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the University through research to develop new approaches to disease identification, investigation, prevention and through education of professional veterinary medical, graduate, and post-doctoral students.

Position Summary
This position will receive and will help with the following tasks: receive and accession incoming tissue samples, which will require organizing and matching samples to the appropriate paperwork; cut, weigh and prepare individual tissue samples for Chronic Wasting Disease testing; and transfer the homogenized tissue samples into plates. This position will also help with general lab cleaning and restocking of lab supplies. This position will start work in mid-October and end on December 23rd, 2024.
Position Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma. One year of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in a fast paced environment. Experience working with numbers.

Duty/Responsibility
Pick up packages from Sample Receiving. Compare samples listed on paperwork to samples actually received. Accession samples into the computer and print labels. Place labels on the correct samples. Package samples appropriately and take to tissue cutting area. Print batch paperwork.

Compare sample id’s with paperwork to ensure all numbers are correct. Cut and weigh the tissue and place in correctly labeled tubes. Homogenize tissue samples are then transfer into 96 well plate for CWD testing.
