Flex High School Substitute Teacher in Flint, Michigan

FLEX HIGH MICHIGAN

Full Time, Monday -- Friday; 8:00am - 4:00pm

Compensation: Competitive compensation package starting from $21.00/hour

 

This role will support in the areas of English Language Arts, SLAM, Physical Education and Health.

How You Will Make an Impact

The Substitute Teacher will teach students in a personalized learning environment. Perform duties in assisting licensed teacher in the implementation and support of instructional programs and will collaborate with other Teachers on student progress. This position reports to the Principal or designee.

  • Meet with student and teach assigned educational coursework.
  • Consult with other Educators and Student Services team members to support the student's academic success and well-being.
  • Collaborate with school operations team members to ensure student records are compliant with student record procedures.
  • Utilize educational technologies to support instruction.
  • Review student work samples.
  • Review student records and ensure documents are current.
  • Record student progress in the Student Information System and educational applications.
  • Notify School Administrator of student concerns or discrepancies in coursework assigned.
  • Adhere to Independent Student Program guidelines.
  • Report student's progress to the Teacher.
  • Assist instructional materials, maintains classroom discipline, and leads planned activities designated by a licensed teacher.
  • Assist with student assessment and testing.
  • Participate in school events (i.e. graduation, open house, etc).
  • Participate in trainings and meetings.
  • Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. These may be changed or modified from time to time.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Knowledgeable of public education high school educational program.

Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.

Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a rigorous educational program.

Ability to work effectively with all racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups.

Ability to communicate effectively including giving clear and concise instructions, using academic language, an appropriate level of delivery, listening without bias, and providing appropriate feedback/reinforcement.

Ability to meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.

Ability to work with a variety of educators and school personnel (school counselor, social worker, support staff).
