State of Utah - Jobs Restoration Coordinator in FARMINGTON, Utah

Job Title:  Restoration Coordinator *2 positions:  One in Farmington and one in Ogden Job Description: Are you interested in wetland management and restoring native vegetation and habitat? Are you looking for a diverse and challenging job involving fieldwork and project management? Then you could be the Restoration Coordinator we are looking for. The Division of Forestry,Fire,and State Lands,in partnership with the Division of Wildlife Resources,is hiring a Restoration Coordinator to coordinate vegetation projects and assist with wetland management in Great Salt Lake's wetlands. Principal Duties:

  • Participate in the collaborative effort to improve vegetation in the wetlands of Great Salt Lake. 
  • Apply specialized knowledge of agency,inter-agency,and industry business practices to assist with or implement vegetation improvement projects in GSL wetlands. 
  • Make recommendations for the prioritization of funds,implement budget(s) for service delivery,track allocations and expenditures,and evaluate field results to provide feedback for reprioritization as needed. 
  • Collaborate with researchers to establish best management practices. 
  • Collaborate with project partners to leverage funding and efforts. 
  • Supervise staff or volunteers including hiring assistance,workload prioritization,delegation,and training. 
  • Plan vegetation treatments. 
  • Execute vegetation treatments using large equipment. 
  • Monitor and track project success. 
  • Understand basic hydrology and wetland plant ecology,irrigation system dynamics,and design,agriculture equipment and small motorized equipment (ATV,boats,airboats,power tools,etc.) operation and maintenance,herbicide,use and equipment for controlling invasive weed species. 
  • Showcase the accomplishments of the Divisions and provide the public with information regarding projects,including public speaking. 
  • Work with diverse user groups and age groups. 
  • Have an understanding of the basic concepts and principles of wetland management practices. 
  • Identify common bird species.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A Bachelors' Degree or higher in a Natural Resources related field and/or two or more years of wetland management experience.
  • Has/will obtain a Pesticide applicator license,with 5a Aquatic surface water certification. 
  • Extensive experience with native plant restoration. 
  • An understanding of how waterfowl hunting plays an important role in conservation.
  • Experience working in and around,and maintaining small and heavy equipment.
  • Experience managing contracts and intergovernmental agreements.
  • Bird identification skills. 
  • Wetland plant identification. 
  • Public relations skills,
