Fairfield University Senior Coordinator for CAS Special Events and Social Media in Fairfield, Connecticut

Job Description:

Title : Senior Coordinator for CAS Special Events and Social Media

Reports to : Jean Daniele, CAS Director of Operations and Budget Manager

Position Type: Non-Exempt

Basic Functions: Assist College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office by providing administrative support with the management of special events, media and marketing, as well as supporting the winter and summer residencies for the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with residency planning and operational functions.

Knowledge and Skills Needed :

  • Proficient technology skills required. Understanding of social media platforms. Adept in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required, as well as the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy relative to sensitive issues.

  • Collaborative and ability to work with University offices.

Managing Media and Marketing:

  • ability to express fresh ideas and a vision for creating and managing all media content including writing copy, choosing and taking photos, editing images, and posting with an intent to reach a diversity of audiences that follow our media accounts.

  • collaborate with the staff to strategize a media plan and schedule that highlights the many programs and events taking place to encourage student and public engagement.

  • assist with marketing needs for events, using University platforms, such as creating posters in Canva, listing events on Fairfield Today and Life@Fairfield and Localist; and requests for digital board and digital flyer designs, etc.

Event Planning:

  • managing the College of Arts and Sciences larger events, such as but not limited to Students Award Ceremony: manage all logistics for events, inclusive of collaborating with departments and programs, as well as other University offices; distribution of invitations to students, administration and faculty; working closely with marketing on design of program; organizing and proof-reading evening script for presenters; working with catering, media, and facilitates to ensure the evening setup is successful.

  • attend Arts and Sciences events upon request

Provides General Office Support to the Master of Fine Arts Program:

  • assist director with budgetary processes through the Workday finance system

  • provide administrative support for the Director and faculty involved with the program

  • assist with the logistics associate with the off-campus summer and winter residencies
