Insight Global Sr. Proposal Technical Writer in Fairfax, Virginia

Job Description

An employer is looking for a Sr. Proposal Technical Writer remotely, but ideally in the D.C. area. The Proposal Technical Writer will be part of a small team tasked with responding to Government RFP/RFIs and creating compliant and compelling proposals. They will utilize technical knowledge and writing skills to craft winning solutions from initial draft to final submission which includes strategically designing technologically sound solutions that will satisfy Government's written requirements. Must have the ability to interview technical SME's and translate technology speak into compelling proposal. Will work independently but will serve as a Technical Writing Lead and mentor other staff members in addition to working with proposal team members. Determine federal proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; studying requests for proposal (RFPs) and request for quote (RFQ). Meet proposal deadlines by establishing target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings; transmitting proposals. Prepare presentations by evaluating text, graphics, and coordinating printing. Assist SMEs by suggesting and/or developing graphics (charts, process flows, screenshots, etc.) that convey the theme or solution being proposed. Write original text for corporate experience, past performances, standard business practices (project management/staffing/quality/transition plans), and resumes. Manage repository and other proposal libraries as required in the SharePoint library. Participate in technical solutioning/theming sessions and proposal color reviews, as necessary.

Skills and Requirements

- Bachelor's degree (Communication, English, BA, IT, or related)

- 8+ years of experience writing technical government proposals (understanding of proposal lifecycle and content management)

- 5+ years of experience working side by side with technical SMEs, translating technical language in to laments terms

- 2+ years of experience leading others by providing oversight, mentorship to other staff, and training/development

- Capable of developing original content in response to RFP questions

- Excellent written and oral skills, able to comply with Standard English usage (i.e. grammar)

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 2007/2010 and Microsoft Office 365 products, primarily in Word and Excel

- Proficient in SharePoint

- Able to work under tight deadlines - Active security clearance

- IT certifications: Security+, Network+, A+, etc. or AMPM certification

- Shipley certification

- Salesforce experience

- Ability to edit, revise, and repurpose existing technical content for case studies and/or white papers

- Ability to work with marketing team on the creation of new customer-facing marketing content null
