Job Overview

The Operations Manager at Komatsu plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing day-to-day operations. Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, this role leads a team of professionals, including the Field Services Manager, Shop Manager, and Planning Manager. The responsibilities will include managing teams, streamlining processes, ensuring efficiency, and driving continuous improvement. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, this role contributes to the mission of delivering high-quality products and services to our customers in the construction, mining, and industrial machinery markets.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the Safety Committee to adopt and implement safety best practices and procedures for Elko.

  • Develop new managers, supervisors, leaders and work force through proper training and support.

  • Prepare and approve quotes for customer repair jobs.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with both customers and internal co-workers.

  • Approve all purchasing and dept. expenses for Elko.

  • Manage facility to maintain compliance on all OSHA regulations.

  • Provide capitol requests for the necessary tooling and equipment to provide a safe workplace and to keep up with the growth of the current market.

  • Establish and implement a Quality Plan.

  • Work with the team to ensure that we have a productive workflow through the shops.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 8 to 10 years’ experience in managing multiple departments (i.e., Rebuild, Technical Service, Field Service)

  • Safety Compliance: A strong understanding of safety regulations and protocols is essential.

  • Leadership- ability to set visions and goals and communicate them effectively across an organization. Known to inspire, motivate and empower others through their own example, instilling enthusiasm and commitment. Ability to analyze, assess and make appropriate recommendations both internally and externally. Demonstrates the ability to listen to other team members and not immediately dismiss ideas or concerns.

  • Customer-oriented- understands the value of the customer to the business. Encourages and supports subordinates to add value to the customer. Searches for new technologies or alternative solutions to help satisfy customer needs. Displays a customer service focus for both internal and external customers.

  • Communication- shows strong written, verbal, and presentation skills and is an active listener. Builds trust through demonstrated objectivity and consistency in all responsibilities. Gains the commitment of staff.

  • Action oriented- a skilled leader of people through change. Works with other members of the management team to seek solutions; initiates actions to cause change to occur. Proactive but not pushy. Willing to roll up his/her sleeves and get the job done.
