County Of Sherburne Economic Development Coordinator in Elk River, Minnesota

Job Summary The Economic Development Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the County s economic development division, housing programs, and redevelopment consistent with Sherburne County, its Economic Development Authority (EDA) and its Housing and Redevelopment Authority s (HRA) goals and policies through implementation, planning, marketing, and research to strengthen and broaden industrial, commercial, retail, and housing sectors. Implementation includes aiding business recruitment, retention and expansion, supporting redevelopment, promoting new housing investment, and administering programs. The Coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining information resources and databases and preparing reports and analysis. This position is based out of the Sherburne County Government Center in Elk River, MN. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Performs Economic Development marketing and communications activities. Prepares reports and delivers presentations to the County Board and other external groups to provide information and encourage use of services. Receives and responds to requests for information. Composes documents and reports. Prepares information packets including economic, statistical, financial, population, growth, demographic, and other information for dissemination to potential businesses. Initiates planning, research, and marketing efforts to attract new business and industry and assist with expansion. Assists existing businesses with marketing and revitalization programs. Creates, designs, distributes, and maintains marketing materials for promotion of economic development and available commercial and industrial land. Creates content and maintains the Economic Development page of the County website and social media platforms. Develops and maintains contact lists. Identifies and coordinates attendance at local, regional, and national trade shows and conventions for targeted industries. Ensures the County goals and vision are consistently and successfully communicated to the public. Develops and maintains a strong and productive relationship with both print and electronic media outlets. Performs business development and financial administration activities. Coordinates the business retention and expansion program. Understands the basic functions and responsibilities of expanding businesses. Attends and participates in economic development expansion meetings. Maintains records and data bases of business prospects and contacts. Assists potential new businesses in site analysis, including demographics, tax impacts, fees, development policies and procedures, and related information. Assists in the preparation, updating and implementation of various economic development and housing plans. Maintains inventory of the properties available for development. Assists in promoting, recruiting, evaluating, and facilitating prospective clients through development process. Represent the County, HRA, and EDA at events, conferences, trade shows, and expos, which may involve overnight and out-of-state travel. Administers, researches, implements, and provides education for housing initiatives and strategies, including grant programs. Assists with the coordination of the redevelopment planning process. Assists with pu suing and securing external funding sources including grant and loan programs. Supports development-related activities of other departments. Performs other essential job duties.
