Buyer/Planner

Position Overview:

The Buyer/Planner is a critical role in the Supply Chain Management team, responsible for balancing the dual responsibilities of procuring materials and planning inventory to ensure a steady flow of components for uninterrupted production. Utilizing the Kanban system, the Buyer/Planner will optimize inventory levels and streamline purchasing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an effective Kanban system to ensure material availability in production cell.

  • Maintain all Kanban cards, vendor information for accurate Kanban calculations. Ensure cell is tripping kanban properly and work with TL as needed to fix issues with triggers in the cells.

  • Generate, review, and manage purchase orders and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.

  • Collaborate with production teams to assess material needs, plan inventory levels, and anticipate potential disruptions.

  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and performance metrics.

  • Conduct regular analysis of supply chain data to identify trends, forecast needs, and implement continuous improvement strategies.

  • Manage stock levels and analyze cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy, adjusting Kanban signals as needed.

  • Resolve any discrepancies, material shortages, or quality issues in collaboration with the Quality and Production departments.

  • Stay informed of market conditions and emerging trends that may affect material availability and costs.

  • Work closely with the procurement team to eliminate material issues

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.

  • Proven experience in a buyer/planner role within a manufacturing environment, preferably with hands-on experience in Kanban and Lean methodologies.

  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and proficient in MS Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Analytical thinker with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to manage projects.

  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or related certification is advantageous.
