The primary purpose of this position is to test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapon systems and cyberspace capabilities, provide quality installation and mission support, and serve as responsible stewards of our resources to deliver war-winning capabilities. Responsibilities Serves as a senior Test Support Specialist and the Section POC for our most challenging test and training computer support efforts. Develops operational procedures, maintains, and manages multiple real-time data acquisition, display, and processing ground stations to convert telemetry and range sensor data to intermediate data for display and conversion, and to engineering unit data used in processing and analysis systems. Programs various computer systems to acquire, reduce, display, and record telemetered ground and flight data and range sensor data for pre-mission and system checkout according to mission requirements. Provides technical direction to other Squadron operations personnel, providing information and training on the operation and theory of the multiple real-lime and post-flight processing, telemetry pre-processing, audio, and video communication, and other data acquisition support systems Identifies and evaluates system malfunctions which cause computer systems to cease functioning properly. Recommends and installs corrections to prevent recurrence As an expert and team lead, trains junior analysts, technicians and systems operators Performs technical and engineering work using classified information in various media and formats. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Experience Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes cyber networking infrastructure planning, maintenance, and installation; principles, methods, and tools for the coordinated management of IT programs to include providing oversight of multiple IT projects, integrating dependent schedules and deliverables, and related activities such as life cycle management and program governance; principles and methods to identify, analyze, specify, design, and manage functional and infrastructure requirements; includes translating functional requirements into technical requirements used for logical design or alternative technologies or approaches. Ability to lead and manage information systems planning, development, implementation, operation, and maintenance.. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of state-of-the-art real-time and post-flight mission room systems and related hardware and software and its application to the support of weapon system test and evaluation. 2. Knowledge of computer system operation and operating systems (e.g., MS Windows and Linux). 3. Knowledge of test range instrumentation and sensors, how they are used, and how the resulting data is processed. 4. Skill and ability to negotiate complex issues, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, reports and briefings for senior military and civilian officials throughout the government and in private industry. 5. Ability to plan and execute complex, multi-faceted projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints to solve weapons testing support questions. Establishes and maintains relationships with key individuals/groups inside and outside immediate work unit and serves as spokesperson for the organization using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
