Scope of Job

Provide leadership for corporate partnership activities for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley department of intercollegiate athletics. Responsible to conceptualize and execute on sales and sponsorship programs that maximize profit margins and revenue targets.

Description of Duties

Assistant Athletic Director for Corporate Partnerships

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive strategic plan for the Athletics Corporate Partnership Program. This includes management of existing corporate sponsorships as well as identifying and growing new sponsorship arrangements.

  • Responsible for the management of the system processes and software platform utilized to track corporate sponsorships. These platforms will be used to track sponsorship arrangements, monitor and inventory of marketable assets, serve as a resource in developing new agreements, and track the performance of sponsorship arrangements.

  • Provides direct support for game day operations, including coordination of fulfillment responsibilities associated with corporate sponsorships. Serve as primary liaison for all athletics suites and other special athletic offerings.

  • Builds relationships with current corporate partners seeking their input on strategies to enhance existing elements of their contracts.

  • Engages and consults with corporate partners regularly, promoting quality customer service and contract fulfillment.

  • Proposes short and long-range plans, conceptual designs, budget requirements and documentation for assigned area.

  • Leverages and promotes the visibility of UTRGV athletics to seek additional corporate support from local, regional, and national businesses.

  • Responsible for working and attending events and promotions including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Responsible for securing radio and television packages.

  • Assists with game day broadcasts and coaches shows.

  • Identifies opportunities and establishes corporate partner relationships to enable the development of marketing and advertising opportunities.

  • Performs other duties and assists with special projects as directed by the Vice President and Director of Athletics.

Associate Athletic Director of Corporate Partnerships will also be responsible for:

  • Directs the development of a comprehensive external plan for revenue generation for corporate partnerships with emphasis on revenue production and image enhancement, to include identifying potential corporate partners, developing proposals, and securing contracts for all sports within the department of intercollegiate athletics.

  • Responsible for strategic development and enhancement of partner relationships; leveraging and advertising of the department; strategizing and analyzing techniques to advance corporate involvement and sales; and identifying key decisions and opportunities to promote and enhance the ability to grow attendance, revenue streams and enhance brand recognition for UTRGV Athletics.

  • Develops and implements strategies to increase corporate involvement through ticket opportunities, corporate nights, and hospitality events.

  • Develops short and long-range plans, conceptual designs, budget requirements and documentation for assigned area.

  • Plans and implements revenue funding techniques to enable long-term strategic plans.

  • Ensures corporate partnerships are compliant with NCAA , Conference and University rules and regulations regarding corporate partnerships and use of student-athlete likeness.

  • Responsible for cultivating and building a good working relationship with different personnel and departments within UTRGV and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley community.

  • Performs other duties and assists with special projects as directed by the Vice President and Director of Athletics.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Licenses/Certifications

Required Experience

Assistant Athletic Director:

Three (3) years of sales experience in a related field or in sales management and leadership.

Associate Athletic Director:

Four (4) years of sales experience in a related field or in sales management and leadership.

Preferred Experience

Experience years in corporate sales at the collegiate or professional level. Experience with legal and financial implications of complex, multi-platform deals.

Equipment

Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; travel and weekend work is required.

  • A demonstrated track record of outstanding sales achievement (both in growth and profit) is essential. Proven ability to renew and upsell existing clients as well as land new clients.

  • Exceptional sales skills and proven ability to pitch and close deals up to and beyond seven figures.
