Overview
The Inventory Specialist I is responsible for the adjustment of inventory levels of stock and nonstock supplies/equipment/linen. Analyze and monitor inventory levels. Consider labor and acquisition costs in resolving appropriate par levels for efficient inventory management. Maintain, verify and update receiving and distribution records and supplies. Provide communication to all customers regarding changes and updates to product descriptions, number, and units of measure, stock additions and deletions. Provide strong leadership in guiding and supporting department managers in appropriate inventory control to manage costs and meet department fluctuations. Works directly with vendors, suppliers, front line staff, customers, and managers. Serve as subject matter authority on Inventory and Procurement portions of MMIS. Recommend process improvements.

Responsibilities Job Description
Manage/direct/revise inventory levels throughout the site
Analyze and monitor inventory levels on regular basis
Authorize volume purchases
Maintain proper inventory levels and adjust order quantities on inventory computer systems
Manage, plan, coordinate and monitor cycle counts and inventories
Reconcile inventory variances
Initiate measures to change par levels when needed
Differentiate between routine supply usage and special cause usage
Analyze and monitor data reports and develop individualized recommendations for clinic managers
Measure and monitor data for process improvement
Identify and communicate opportunities to improve efficiency of inventory management
Maintain accurate inventory control reports for department managers
Maintain, verify and update receiving and distribution records
Coordinates customer needs for specific products not established in MMIS
Submits new product requests through established processes while adhering to policy
Regulatory Compliance
Facilitates product recalls and returns
Collaborate with stakeholders regarding inventory data, and recommend opportunities for standardization or improvement
Establish and monitor data for process improvement
Assess unit needs and recommend adjustments in par levels and/or variety of product
Collaborate with Managers to identify acceptable product substitutions
Change department profiles in collaboration with Manager and front line staff
Perform daily business functions of Supply Chain
Meet customer needs by placing and expediting orders
Perform invoice resolution
Receive online orders and reconcile receiving discrepancies
Manages consignment inventory
Maintain a clean and professional work area
Generate needed stickers and labels and maintain accuracy
Minimizes expired products
Support and meet customer needs
May assist with stocking
May perform cycle counting
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 1 year inventory management or 2 years in healthcare working with medical product required
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Nursing or Related field preferred
American Production and Inventory Control Society, Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional, Lean, Value Analysis preferred
Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional preferred
2 years inventory management in healthcare preferred
