The Buyer is responsible for coordinating purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost-effective and timely manner.

What you will be doing:

  • Process purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers

  • Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g., materials, components, equipment, and services)

  • Monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate the highest quality at best value

  • Develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive

  • May recommend cost-saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing

  • Interact closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues

  • Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability

  • Negotiate the need to expedite or defer purchase orders in support of working capital

  • Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise-wide systems

  • Participates in maximizing the procurement teams' changes, part parameters; quote table maintenance, supplier database information, error report analysis, and part number/supplier code information

  • Evaluate requirements, manage MRP, and maintain the ERP system in support of material availability needs

  • Analyze demand requirements for materials into detailed plans and schedules for inventory acquisition

  • Generate and maintain purchase order requirements and communicate to suppliers

  • Maintain system planning parameters, fixed day, MOQ, order multiples Min/Max levels etc.

Must have for this role:

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration, Finance or another related field

  • 3+ years’ experience in purchasing or planning in a manufacturing environment

  • Proficient experience in ERP systems, preferable experience in Oracle

Nice to have:

  • Project Management experience

  • Experience in a global manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work well with others

  • Excellent Communication Ability to manage through change and to lead change when appropriate
