Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The School of Social Work at Michigan State University (MSU) seeks applications for the Kinship Care Resource Center to serve as communications assistant to support communication efforts of the program. This includes assisting with scheduling media communications, researching and drafting marketing social media and web content, assisting with social media strategy, tracking social media analytics, and supporting the development of basic correspondence. This position will also assist promotional material coordination and distribution.

Required Qualifications
Proven experience performing activities related to position summary
Basic understanding of media relations and digital media strategies
Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with design software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign)
Solid editing and researching skills
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with experience in public speaking.
Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with confidence and poise in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize activities to meet deadlines.
Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively and constructively with people at multiple levels and with diverse perspectives.
Central Registry Clearance documenting that there is no record of child abuse or neglect.
Internal Criminal History Access Tool (ICHAT) check and a National and State Sex Offender Registry Check.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively and constructively with people at multiple levels and with diverse perspectives.
Cultural awareness and ability to identify unique needs specific to various diverse populations.
An approach to colleagues that is respectful, collaborative, and accessible
Desired Qualifications:
Basic understanding of kinship care of relative children and child welfare
Experience in web design and content production is a plus
Experience in copywriting and editing
Experience using buffer or other social media management software
