Position Summary
The Department of Physiology at Michigan State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure track faculty position. We anticipate an appointment at the Assistant Professor level, but highly qualified applicants at the Associate Professor level will also be considered. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to solid cancers with a focus on tumor development and progression to metastatic disease. Technical expertise in various areas of cancer research, such as preclinical models, metastasis, microenvironment or bioinformatics are desired in a candidate. The individual selected will join a diverse group of faculty members, post‐doctoral scholars, staff, specialists, and students who provide an internationally recognized program of research and instruction in cancer biology. The ideal applicant will be an outstanding investigator with exceptional promise, a proven record of research achievement, and the ability to attract funding in their research area, who will contribute to the highly interactive and collaborative Department of Physiology (http://www.psl.msu.edu) at MSU. The Physiology department participates in the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) graduate student umbrella programhttps://biomolecular.natsci.msu.edu/, which provides access to graduate students. Moving forward, MSU has partnered with Henry Ford Health Sciences (https://www.henryford.com/campaign/hfmsu) to close the gap in health care outcomes for cancer patients based on race, ethnicity, gender and socioeconomic status.
The successful applicant must establish and maintain a vigorous, extramurally funded research program in their area of expertise, and contribute to teaching undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional students associated with the Department of Physiology. Applicants must hold a PhD, DO, MD, DVM or equivalent degree, with postdoctoral experience. The ideal applicant will be an outstanding investigator with exceptional promise, a proven record of research achievement, and the ability to attract funding in their research area, who will contribute to the highly interactive and collaborative Department of Physiology (http://www.psl.msu.edu) at MSU. Evidence of ability to obtain stage-appropriate funding is desired. Laboratory space, start-up funds, and salary will be competitive and commensurate with academic rank and experience.
