Position Summary

The Administrative Support Services group provides support to a large central information technology department that enables the University’s excellence in education, research, and outreach through the delivery of world-class information technology solutions and resources.

The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of the administrative daily operations of large and complex departments in MSU IT.

Responsibilities for this position includes providing administrative/business analyst support for the MSU IT executive director team; participating as a member of the department leadership team representing the administrative functions in planning and strategy; leading conversations with department leadership and vendors on purchases and financial actions; analyzing data from department level and university sources to create and present reports and presentations for the department; ensuring a high level of accuracy and verification of all work products including data, finance, personnel, reporting and tracking; manages departmental student employees; developing and delivering trainings at both the departmental and MAU level; interacting and working effectively with a wide range of staff, students, business stakeholders and MAU administrative teams; acting as a resource to the department on ensuring university and MAU process, policy and procedures are understood and adhered; creating, reviewing, and maintaining department process and policies, while seeking improvements that benefit the mission of the MAU; works closely in alignment with MAU level financial, facilities, communications, and human resources teams enduring delivery of those functions in alignment with departmental direction and vision; coordinating with MAU and external sources on department trainings/presentation; coordinating building specific equipment, furniture, facilities, and access approvals.

This role is a full-time onsite role at our East Lansing campus main office.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
