Description:
A licensed practical nurse bears full responsibility for the quality of health care she/he provides, including participation in direct and indirect nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and rehabilitation. Excellence in nursing practice also includes clinical skills and capabilities beyond baseline competence. These include the ability, in collaboration with the clinical team, to conduct a comprehensive assessment that incorporates an advanced and sophisticated integration of clinical information, and the ability to translate that assessment into a superior plan of care for the patient/family/care team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess an individual’s basic health status, records and related health data.
Participate in analyzing and interpreting recorded data and making informed judgments as to the specific elements of nursing care mandated by a particular situation.
Participate in planning and implementing nursing intervention, including appropriate health care components in nursing care plans that take account of the most recent advancements and current knowledge in the field. Incorporate the prescribed medical regimen into the nursing plan of care.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma. Completion of vocational/technical training beyond high school in an Accredited Nursing Program. Licensure in Massachusetts as an R.N. or L.P.N. BCLS certification (per departmental policy). Bilingual skills preferred.
1 year relevant nursing experience, preferably in a community health and/or ambulatory care setting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Familiarity with the use of a personal computer in a Windows environment preferred.
