Summary

Under Director-level leadership within the Manufacturing Business Unit (BU) and guidance of Senior Project Managers, the Project/Program Manager I is responsible for the coordination and completion of projects within budget, scope, and schedule requirements. Project will vary across multiple areas of the Manufacturing BU, including new product development, product upgrades, quality improvements, cost-out initiatives, and efficiency improvements. The Project Manager (PM) will typically manage multiple projects. The PM will collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document project goals and KPI’s/metrics and report on the status of the projects on a periodic basis. The PM will also lead the identification and mitigation of risks. The Project Manager will work as part of a cohesive team whose goal is to design and deliver innovative products and services to customers that exceed customers’ expectations.

Essential Functions:

The PM must bring skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Leadership and Communication—Lead and communicate with their teams as well as stakeholders throughout the entire lifecycle of their assigned projects.

  • Organization and Time Management—Organize and delegate tasks across the project teams to ensure the successful execution of their assigned projects. Ensure that project costs are controlled at/below budget, and deliverables are completed on time.

  • Problem Solving and Adaptability—Understand how to resolve issues and adapt their projects creatively to avoid off-plan performance.

  • Motivation and Team Management—Ensure stakeholders and team members stay focused and motivated throughout the project’s lifecycle. Lead the resolution of conflicts and drive high levels of teamwork and collaboration.

    Areas of Responsibility:

Project Planning / Setup:

  • Meet with stakeholders and clarify the specific goals and requirements of each project.

  • Assist in the definition of project goals, needs, and scope, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.

  • Setup project budgets, cost-tracking, and cost-reporting methods.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with management and stakeholders.

  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.

Project Execution:

  • Ensure top-quality results and success for a project.

  • Document key steps and deliverables in each project using various project management tools.

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.

  • Ensure all tasks, deliverables, and project materials are delivered promptly and to plan.

  • Manage all resources necessary for project execution.

  • Foster effective communication with stakeholders concerning project status.

  • Plan, monitor, and document tasks throughout the project.

  • Foresee and strategically eliminate blockers and potential risks.

  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.

Risk Management / Mitigation:

  • Pull stakeholders together to identify project risks.

  • Formally document risks in a matrix, identifying both the severity and likelihood of each risk.

  • Identify and document risk mitigation tasks. Ensure completion.

  • Escalate un-mitigated or unforeseen risks to management along with recommended corrections.

Project Status Reporting:

  • Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques.

  • Track and report on project performance, informally on a weekly basis and formally to leadership on a monthly basis.

  • Collaborate with IT team members to set up automatic reporting tools (ERP/IFS, Microsoft PowerBI, etc.) to increase the visibility of project status and performance.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in business, Engineering, or a related field, or 2+ years of relevant work experience in product development and /or manufacturing environment.

  • Current PMP Certification or prepared to actively pursue.

  • 2+ Years’ demonstrated Project, Program, or Supervisory position in a manufacturing or construction industry.

  • Knowledge of ERP (IFS or SAP preferred) and CAD systems (AutoCad preferred).

  • Very strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to solve difficult coordination problems and provide structure to situations where only limited (or conflicting) information exists.

  • Strong computer software skills, especially Microsoft Office, Project, and Word and Excel.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written, inter-personal communications and relationship skills.

  • Demonstrated project and/or program management skills.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and requirements effectively.

  • High attention to detail and process oriented

  • Understand the product line and overall business models.

  • Be familiar with the sales process, strategic goals and project delivery process requirements.

  • Participate as requested in company training events, applicable industry and product related training or certification classes and marketing – industry sector events.

  • Passion to contribute in a fast-growing corporate environment and leading edge power system design-build firm.

  • Travel as necessary to client project, vendor, jobsite and event locations.

    Physical Demands

  • Limited local travel will be required (Less than 10%).

  • Must be able to work in an office environment with a lot of sitting.

  • Must be able to tolerate a full day of computer screen viewing.

    Work Environment

  • Professional office environment.

  • Some walking will be required to monitor projects on the shop floor.
