Overview

Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a motivated candidate for an Associate Project Developer position in the renewable energy industry. This position would report directly to the Sr. Project Developer and would support/drive the development of transmission-scale solar, hybrid, and standalone energy storage projects in the Southeast market. As an Associate Project Developer, the position balances sound internal communication with coordinating and documenting development activities using cloud-based document management and project information databases and reporting tools. Projects may be located across multiple states in the southeast and will generally have between a 12–36-month development cycle. The Associate Project Developer will also support market and policy efforts, including tracking of market activities, reviewing utility plans, and supporting our legislative efforts. An effective candidate will demonstrate comprehensive attention to detail, superior organization, a desire to solve complex problems, enthusiastic initiative, effective communication skills and an excellent ability to work with others across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support development activities by working with internal teams in areas including, but not limited to site acquisition, real estate and title, interconnection, engineering, survey, environmental, offtake, policy and finance

  • Prioritize, coordinate, review, and track key development deliverables with internal teams and external legal, zoning, environmental, interconnection, and engineering consultants

  • Manage and report project data as it pertains to budget, schedule, and deliverables. Key project data management could include:

  • Onboarding new projects into data systems

  • Maintaining projections of upcoming payments, project budgets, and cash forecasts

  • Tracking interface with external stakeholders including landowners, consultants, utilities, permitting authorities, etc.

  • Creating and managing project and market dashboards and reports with status of development activities for distribution to the market team and executive team

  • Provide support to achieve development milestones on time and on budget for projects to successfully move into financing and construction

  • Gather market intelligence and expand relationships with local government, utility, and other stakeholder groups to understand the project development and permitting processes

  • Prepare and submit land use permitting applications, manage development of site layouts for permitting and coordinate, and attend and support at permitting meetings

  • Review and manage project contracts including leases, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements to ensure compliance with their terms.

  • Building strategic relationships with development, finance, and EPC partners

  • Travel to visit project sites, and other Cypress Creek office

    Education & Experience Required

  • A bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years working experience

  • Bachelor’s degree focused on energy, environmental, business or engineering industries is a plus

  • Working or Internship experience in energy, environmental, or engineering industries is a plus

  • Sitetracker and NetSuite experience is a plus, not required.

  • Strong Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft excel, skills required

  • Strong work ethic and ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Results driven and solutions oriented

  • Confidence to take initiative to figure it out, but also to ask questions when needed

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated team-first mentality and willingness to do whatever it takes

  • Ability to travel up to 25% as required

    Locations: Strong preference to be located at our offices in Durham, NC or Asheville, NC, while open to a remote position in the Carolinas depending on experience.
