Position Description

Serco has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Writer/Editor to join a dynamic team and support corporate communications activities for a government agency located at the L’Enfant Plaza Metro in downtown DC. Serco has been supporting this customer as a prime for over 20 years! Bring your creative writing and editing skills to support a variety of internal and public facing products.

In this role, you will:

• Conduct research to support writing assignments. Interview/comsultations with subject matter experts (SMEs) and corporate personnel to gather information and/or conduct traditional research of publications and documentation

• Write original content or translate complex, technical materials for news articles and items of interest

• Work with graphic design team to develop graphics, photos, and/or illustrations to support written materials

• Rewrite and reorganize various types of materials for a range of audiences and purposes

• Edit and restructure materials for a range of audiences and purposes. Requires checking for clarity and conciseness, i.e. improving organization of material, checking for appropriate style of writing, focus and unity; eliminating unnecessary or repetitive words, and rewriting sentences to be more readable and clear. Includes proofreading, checking accuracy of grammar, punctuation, spelling, acronyms, correct use of plural forms and parallel construction, and other requested items

• Provide backup support on a critical employee recognition program by supporting program lead in interviewing individuals to gather important details about the recognition, summarizing the recognition and shepherding it through the final review/approval, and printing process

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• U.S. Citizenship and be able to obtain a NACI clearance

• 5 years of profressional experience in creative writing

• Associate's degree creative writing, journalism; English; communications; other related liberal arts

Additional Desired experience and skills:

• Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style guide

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in creative writing, journalism; English; communication; or other, related liberal arts
