Job Description

The Civil Transportation Design Engineer will provide design efforts from inception through production both in new product design and in existing product redesign. This role will assist in quality assurance and project management support.

Responsibilities

• Develop and interpret engineering drawings and facilitate correction of errors on drawings and documents.

• Develop calculations and cost estimates.

• Develop technical project reports and technical memorandums.

• Assist with the development of project work plans.

• Maintain records or oversee the recording of information by others to ensure engineering drawings and documents are current and that engineering-related production problems and resolutions are documented.

• Assist with quality control plans.

• Participate in engineering and general design reviews as required.

• Refine and complete designs after design review meetings.

• Support efforts to develop and maintain project work plans.

• Communicate on task status and support internal project communication.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in both Microstation or Design work.

• Ideal design experience is Roadway, but it can also come from Municipal or Utility sectors.

• Experience with engineering calculations.

• EIT/PE certification.

• Traffic and hydraulic analysis skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD.

• Experience with highway design.

• Experience with traffic analysis.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Employees are in the office 5 days a week, typically working 40 hours. They have both a Detroit and Lansing office. The company values collaboration, dependability, and innovation, and they are involved in several exciting roadway projects that aim to improve Michigan's transportation infrastructure.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $36.06/hr.
