VESTAS AMERICAN WIND TECHNOLOGY INC Field Safety and Rescue Trainer in DES MOINES, Iowa
This position will be 90% traveling all across the US and Canada, primary location will be remote from any state across the Midwest and North East region in the US.
A Field Safety and Rescue Trainer participates in the presentation of wind turbine safety and rescue training in predominately field locations for internal audiences.
Responsibilities:
Deliver training to Vestas technicians in Vestas and Multibrand Wind Turbines
Complete Vestas Train the Trainer program
Ensure all participants meet learning goals in Course and Module Outlines during course delivery
Directly manage classroom presentations and lead real-world training scenarios for 4-6 students to ensure safe and effective training material delivery
Travel throughout the US and Canada to operational wind farms to deliver in field training to Vestas technicians, predominately in wind turbines
Continuously develop new competencies and techniques on Vestas and Multibrand turbines to support rescue response and training delivery in all turbines serviced by Vestas technicians
Support training administration by providing necessary reports and paperwork during and upon training completion
Support ongoing development and improvement of Vestas courses
Maintain personal development timelines in order to teach new courses and obtain additional authorized to teach certifications
Support development of other instructors through field-training mentor programs
Essential Functions:
Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms
Regular and reliable attendance
Ability to travel regularly
Ability to work and conduct training in wind turbines, climb >250ft, access confined spaces, and work at heights
Ability to constantly climb stairs and ladders 60-125 meters in height, in order to access work area
Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight
Ability to frequently walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend
Ability to constantly grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine parts
Comfort constantly working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters
Ability to successfully participate in all training courses, including controlled descent.
Ability to hear and see, including the ability to perceive depth and distinguish colors, sufficient to perform job functions and use close range radios
Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
Comfort working remotely in a Turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction
Your total weight, while wearing all required PPE and gear, should be at or less than the 300.0 lbs. weight limit
Education, Training, and Skills Required:
Associate's degree in a technical discipline, military training, or a combination of technical education and rope-access experience on wind turbines or similar mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
1-2+ years of experience in working at height in wind turbines or similar equipment
1-2+ years of experience delivering formal training programs for adult learners in a safety or technical discipline
Ability to work with limited to no supervision.
Ability to work in a team environment, regularly consulting with other knowledge experts in order to present most accurate and up-to-date information to class participants
Good ability to plan, organize and deliver training in varied field environments to ensure course material is covered and goals are met
Good abil ty to verbally communicate and demonstrate complex concepts to a variety of people during a classroom or hands-on presentation, including assessing and checking for understanding during practical rescue exercises
Ability to navigate company policies and procedures relating to service technician job requirements and rescue equipment
Significant focus on safe work methods in wind turbine setting; able to influence cultural change within participants regarding their views on safe work
High level of knowledge on rescue equipment, first aid concepts and safe work methods for work on wind turbines
Good skills on MS Office products
Able to communicate in English
Will be required to work and conduct training in wind turbines, climb >250ft, access confined spaces, and work at heights
Possess a valid driver's license
Able to obtain a passport and Visa
