This posting is intended to fill the Local Planning Capacity Grant Program Assistant position with Division of Local Government in addition to other Program Assistant II positions across DOLA.

Local Planning Capacity Grant Program Assistant Position Summary

The Community Development Office (CDO) exists as the statewide experts on local government land use planning and provides technical expertise, guidance, information, and financial assistance to Colorado communities statewide on community and economic development planning.

  • This includes offering training, technical assistance, and resources to local officials on statewide and regional community and economic development issues.

  • The team seeks opportunities to leverage financial assistance with technical assistance to maximize community success.

  • The unit manages the Colorado Main Street program, designed to preserve historic downtowns through thoughtful revitalization and support.

  • The unit connects local governments with other state and federal agencies and provides guidance and access to resources to local governments and their key partners on community and economic development issues.

  • This unit manages the Local Planning Capacity (LPC) grant program, the Innovative Affordable Housing grant program, the Strong Communities grant program, and the Main Street mini-grant and scholarship program.

Job Duties:

This is a new permanent position funded by the State Affordable Housing Support Fund (created by Proposition 123). This position is responsible for:

  • organizing and implementing processes for grant applications and funding decisions;

  • planning application review meetings and preparing the documentation for the final funding recommendations;

  • reviewing and approving payments for grantees and consultants;

  • preparing grant application and reimbursement process training and providing related technical assistance;

  • and supporting grant monitoring, reporting, program evaluation and project closeout for the Local Planning Capacity grant program for the Community Development Office in the Division of Local Government.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Five (5) years of relevant experience in grant administration, including providing technical assistance to stakeholders, and reviewing applications for compliance and eligibility.

OR

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, urban planning, geography, public administration, finance, communications, or a related field as determined by the department.

AND

One (1) year of relevant experience in grant administration, including providing technical assistance to stakeholders, and reviewing applications for compliance and eligibility.

OR

Master’s degree in business administration, urban planning, geography, public administration, finance, communications, or a related field as determined by the department.

This experience must be demonstrated in your application to be considered for employment.
