Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide oversight for PeopleSoft HCM

  • Conduct audits and data remediation efforts to increase/maintain data quality and compliance

  • Partner and collaborate with internal teams to identify and document areas for improvement for data quality and process efficiencies/effectiveness

  • Identify gaps, overlaps, and contradictions within data sets or configurations and identify potential root causes in order to make recommendations for changes to ensure compliance with HR policies and data quality standards

  • Write queries to extract data from the system and analyze the system

  • Design audit reports to track variances to standard processes while working with subject matter experts and the ES HRIS team to address any deviations from standard practices

  • Run and/or monitor error reports and take action to resolve errors in the HRIS

  • Build, run, and audit excel-to-cis to support and fulfill mass update requests

  • Work with ES HRIS team to identify policy-related, process-related, or procedural problems that lead to system and/or data inconsistencies

  • Develop materials for user training and education, partner with other subject matter experts on user support materials including procedures, guidelines and other documentation related to HRIS

  • Develop new business processes

  • Respond to user-submitted help tickets

  • Perform day-to-day and cyclical operational tasks owned by the ES HRIS team

  • Performs testing activities related to new system features or enhancements

  • Assist with keeping documentation and process guides updated.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Please ensure your resume includes any and all relevant experience to be accurately assessed against these qualifications. You must meet all minimum requirements listed at the time of application to be considered for this role.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)

  • Four (4) years' experience that includes one or more of the following:

  • Experience working in a functional analyst (FA) or business analyst (BA) capacity or similar; which may include at least (2) years of experience working with PeopleSoft HCM as an FA or BA and experience writing SQL queries

  • Experience with data extraction and analysis

  • Experience with system and end user testing, including issue analysis, documentation, and resolution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six (6) years of equivalent experience as stated above.

  • Experience and a knowledge of relational databases, particularly PeopleSoft HCM HR, Payroll, and Benefits tables

  • Experience creating and diagnosing queries using PS Query or SQL writing applications

  • Experience in higher education HR information systems and/or payroll systems

  • Experience with project coordination or project management

  • Experience as a business or functional analyst that includes some of the following components:

  • Documenting business processes.

  • Understanding system requirements, business cases, and functional specifications.

  • Writing test plans.

  • Analyzing and troubleshooting software application issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience with performing data extraction and analysis

  • Experience with systems such as:

  • Human capital management systems

  • Ticketing management systems

  • Project management systems

  • Experience identifying problems, proposing solutions and a willingness to take ownership through to resolution or ensure a clear hand-off.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to balance multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities with changing priorities while maintaining personal effectiveness

  • Ability to switch from sophisticated to routine tasks when required.

  • Strong analytical and design skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational databases

  • Ability to interpret and evaluate user requirements and analyze business systems.

  • Ability to work with partners with varying levels of technical experience.

  • Demonstrated success completing cross functional projects

  • Energy and initiative in solving problems.

  • Adaptable and willing to undertake a variety of tasks.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds.

The HRIS Functional Analyst requires a strong HRIS/HCM professional with enterprise systems experience and a strong HR background, including knowledge of HR policies and procedures, payroll, and time/absence management. This position will represent Employee Services as an HCM expert and act as a liaison to our campus partners, internal department units, and University Information Services teams in support of the areas of Core HR, Payroll, Benefits, and HR/GL.This position will perform system and data analysis, troubleshooting, system updates, testing, documentation, and policy review to support the broader efforts of the ES HRIS team. This position requires strong cross-functional knowledge of the PeopleSoft HCM application, sold understanding of processes and setup, experience with system integrations, and an understanding of HR and payroll rules. This role will actively consult and partner with Campus HR offices, University Information Services teams, and the Employee Services department to guide process improvement, support new initiatives, and drive best practices and strategic change across the university. The position will interact closely with ES team members and campus business partners to understand system configuration requirements and to achieve and maintain accurate system data. The position will ensure that system configurations align with institutional and legislative requirements and will work with the appropriate system subject matter experts when changes need to be recommended. The position will play a key role on the ES HRIS team in providing project support, system testing, end user support activities, day-to-day operational support, documentation, and training. The ideal candidate for this role can benefit from having a background in or knowledge of higher education. This position is customer oriented and highly passionate about designing solutions to increase and improve efficiency. The ability to extract and analyze data to identify trends, analyze and document system functionality, and provide support to the team and system users are key components of the position.This position reports to the HRIS Assistant Director and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff System.
