Job Summary

The Chief of Ambulatory Officer ("CAO" or "Chief") holds a strategic leadership responsibility steering the Ambulatory Care Department and Denver Community Health Services. Central to this role is the formulation and execution of strategic plans, aimed at delivering high-quality, cost-effective patient care. A major focus is on the integration and management of resources - both human and financial - to optimize operational efficiency and outcomes. This includes a rigorous evaluation and enhancement of care management strategies, preventive care, disease management, patient satisfaction, and safety. Reporting jointly to the Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") and the Denver Community Health Services Board, the Chief is a vital member of the senior executive team, the position contributes significantly to the overall organizational mission, vision, strategy, and goals, sharing accountability for their achievement. Active involvement in strategic planning and budgeting processes is key, as is fostering collaborative relationships across various departments, including Administrative, Nursing, Medical, and Financial divisions. Essential Functions:

Strategy and Planning Contributes to organization's strategic planning process by providing information and thought leadership, input on prevailing industry trends, best practices and critical areas of concern related to medicine, community (CHS) and ambulatory services (ACS) concerns. Makes recommendations for initiatives that help achieve short and long-term priorities of DHHA. Formulate the strategy and tactics to optimize achievement of goals, resources and drives consensus to implement such initiatives. (30%) Service Delivery Orchestrates the integration of primary care, specialty care, and preventive health services, collaborating closely with respective Directors of Service to ensure seamless, coordinated healthcare delivery and through planning, directing, and overseeing the ACS and CHS Central Management Teams. May provide clinical care in area of specialty practice (15%) Executive Team Member Functions Advise and provide thought partnership to the CEO in helping carry out work needed for Denver Health. Comprehend vision and viewpoints to offer advice and thought leadership to support delivery of mission, strategy, and organizational goals. Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with and confidence of senior leadership to develop solid partnerships to identify and resolve issues effectively and proactively. (10%) Policy, Practice and Compliance Develops, establishes, and regularly reviews health policies and procedures within Ambulatory Care Services (ACS) that impact the organization's ability to create a safe, healthy, infection and risk-free environment of care for patients, families, faculty, and staff. Optimize program execution and functionality, gain consensus for implementing improvements in all systems of care to evolve and strengthen them. Ensures pro rams and direction are consistent with goals and philosophy identified by DH management, federal policy governing public health 330 services and funded HRSA program. (10%) Resource and Fiscal Management Integrate and monitor resources - both human and financial - to optimize operational efficiency and outcomes. Establish and oversee a system to responsibly manage finances for Community and Ambulatory Care Services. Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer, and other executives to find creative, cost-effective ideas to solve the organization's financial issues. Establish and monitor budgets and financial plans that safeguard resources and demonstrate quantifiable return on investment. Oversee and direct the financial resources for the function. Manage and track income and expenses and the use of financial resources for business operations. (10%) Regulatory Compliance, Data Analysis and Reporting Oversees and directs the activities related to regulatory reporting and compliance for applicable state, federal government agencies including the Joint Commission. Implements a comprehensive reporting process that enables the systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of health data in order to plan for outcomes related to areas of responsibility. Organizes data into informational summaries to monitor effectiveness and extract meaningful insights, which can be used to better understand and improve performance and drive improvement.
