Job Summary and Qualifications

Under direct supervision of the Executive Chef and manager of support services, Chef performs a variety of food service duties for patients, employees, medical staff, and visitors. Daily responsibilities may include: food and set up for catered events, personal service for 6N suites, production of food to support retail, room service, physician dining and catering needs. This position is recognized as a technical expert for other chefs and cooks within the department. Assist exec chef with menu modification and design to meet needs for all customers. Utilizes HACCP standards when producing food. manages/controls Will cook selected items, and plan or price menus. Typical knowledge and skills: Strong knowledge of food production, customer service, food safety and food presentation skills.

What qualifications you will need:

• ACF (CEC) certification preferred

• Bachelors Degree preferred in culinary arts or four or more years experience in food production management.

• Previous food service related experience in healthcare setting preferred.

• Must be knowledgeable in food handling methods, food safety and sanitation techniques. Familiar with food service equipment, basic use of personal computer, copying machine and telephone. Must demonstrate attention to detail. Able to read, write and speak English.

• Skilled in assisting with menu development within budgeted food costs, knowledgeable in plating and presentation, demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, must possess leadership knowledge, skills and abilities which focus on Initiative and Customer service.
