Position Summary:

The Director of the Strategic Project Management Office (PMO) is a key leader on the Strategy & Portfolio Management team. The Head of PMO oversees the PMO team as they deliver key project management activities that are aligned with organizational goals. They lead high-level presentations, manage budgets, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders. Responsibilities include harmonizing processes, monitoring project health, and contributing to strategic decision-making. They will drive successful project delivery while ensuring linkage across our strategic goals for the US organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Establishes and maintains standardized project management processes, templates, and best practices ensuring consistency across projects

  • Efficiently allocates resources (both human and material) to projects. The PMO lead ensures the project managers (internal and contractors) are appropriately resourced to key US projects

  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with projects. The PMO lead develops risk management strategies and monitors risk throughout project lifecycles

  • In collaboration with Strategic Consulting team, lead key strategic projects for Lundbeck US while fostering cross-functional collaboration to ensure buy-in and proper change management

  • As the lead, facilitates effective communication among project teams, stakeholders, and senior executives. The PMO lead keeps everyone informed about project status, changes, and decisions.

  • Developing and managing project budgets as well as contractor spend. This involves estimating costs, tracking expenses, and ensuring projects stay within budget constraints.

  • Provides standardized training for project managers and team members. The PMO lead educates teams on project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Regularly assesses PMO processes and identifying areas for improvement. The lead drives continuous enhancement of project management practices.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Accredited Bachelor’s Degree

  • 10+ years of professional experience

  • 4+ years of experience focused on project management (e.g., Project Manager and/or leading a PMO)

  • 2+ years of pharmaceutical, medical device or healthcare industry experience

  • Experience leading and/or participating in cross-functional programs and projects

  • Able to develop strong relationships and influence individuals and teams, Lundbeck and third-party

  • Able to hold people accountable to meeting commitments and previously-made agreements

  • Able to drive decisions and actions related to them

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, namely Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Able to identify best practices and contribute to continuous improvement

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • MBA

  • Experience working within similar function in a previous role

  • Experience in the development, assessment and maintenance of an organizations’ business capabilities

  • People management experience

Travel:

  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 20% domestically. International travel may be required.
