Job Description:

At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we develop large mining and heavy construction equipment while ensuring that we deliver a quality product to our customers. In this role as a Inventory Reconciliation Analyst you will be responsible for reconciling and synchronizing inventory records provided by inventory record counters with common inventory management system. This position is responsible for ensuring that material counts provided by Inventory Record Counters match perfectly with key inventory management systems like MRP, MTS and the JD System. This requires a strong sense of urgency and understanding of strict time constraints for reconciling and synchronizing records and systems. This role receives data from Inventory Record Counters, and reconciles key Supply Chain and factory systems to align with the specific counts. This may involve urgent requests for reconciliation in order to enable good material planning. This position will interact closely with Material Planning Analysts, Material Requirements Planning Team Leads and Supervisors, Material Handlers and facility operations personnel to collaborate on reconciliation and synchronization across multiple systems. As a member of the team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture at Decatur. What you will do:

  • Reconciling count cards for the facility to be aligned with our corporate count program

  • Root cause analysis of count discrepancies

  • Working closely with process partners to further validate count info obtained

  • Involvement in various corrective action initiatives that may arise

  • Maintaining and auditing facility count information

  • Generating reports from audits to make remain compliant

Top Candidates Will Have:

•6 Sigma Project experience

•APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification highly desired

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

•Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, organization and communication skills

•Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures

•General product knowledge

• Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.

• Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns.

• Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand.

• Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.

• Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.

• Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.

• Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.

• Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.

Level Basic Understanding:

• Explains how improvements in logistics contribute to competitive advantage in the marketplace.

• Identifies issues and considerations for inbound and outbound logistics.

• Documents internal and external informative sources or proprietary materials about logistics management.

• Describes basic logistical processes and sub-processes.

Supply Chain Management - MFG : Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.

• Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.

• Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products or components.

• Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.

• Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
