Ford Motor Company Manufacturing Engineer Layout & Planning Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

  • Develop and maintain Bill of Process individual component and support area layouts based upon Production Engineering Bill of Process, machine and equipment detailed requirements and in keeping with the Ford Production System Strategy.

  • Develop Layouts supporting overall Plant Production, Material Flow Strategy and Pedestrian Safety Principles and Guidelines (FAS 08-079).

  • Provide material flow and pedestrian safety analysis for individual commodity production lines and for overall Plant Layout.

  • Incorporate shipping/receiving dock requirements, PMHV charging equipment and storage space requirements into the plant (as developed in conjunction with PTME Material Handling Engineering and productivity simulation data).

  • Develop plant / department layouts in keeping with Component Bill of Process & Ford Production System concepts supporting all new model programs per the Layout Principles Procedure PTP02- 107ME. Develop complete program and retool layouts including support areas and supporting equipment such as gage tables, stock stands, bridge & jib cranes, fire, dust & mist equipment, floor striping, etc. for a complete production system.

  • Identify & Implement CAD tools for layouts.

  • Draft 3D department layouts either directly or through the use of GDME engineering services to enhance design and planning activities.

  • Manage resources accountable for the creation and maintenance of plant layouts, delivery and installation of production systems and production support systems through power-on and delivery of material handling systems.

  • Conduct weekly layout review meetings to present current status, identify and track issues.

  • Coordinate laser scanning activities, process point cloud data and use scan data to check accuracy of 2D and 3D CAD models.

  • Maintain laser scan data in the laser scan file library and in Cintoo.

  • Own and administer PTP02-107ME Layout Principles Procedure and PTP02-108ME Visual Factory Procedure.

  • Lead the specification and delivery of Facility and Infrastructure to support PTO programs, from simultaneous engineering through program launch for all Global PTO sites.

  • Implement and apply standard specifications to support building utilities and foundations to support process equipment.

  • Ensure the identification and capture of lessons learned along with their application to new programs, as well as the impact to existing strategies and standards.

  • Lead simultaneous engineering meetings with Tier I suppliers to orchestrate equipment installation during program reviews with all interested parties.

  • Participate in management program reviews and represent the Facilities and Infrastructure organization in commodity discussions.

  • Define the scope of Equipment Installation and contract appropriate resources to install after reviewing bids and awarding contract.

  • Direct activities of the Installation contractor or internal trades to install and power on equipment according to the required program master timing.

  • Coordinate PTME Process requirements with Ford Land activities to ensure Central utilities support PTME demands.

  • Deliver new model program work for various Powertrain programs supporting and working in either MI, Ohio, Windsor, ONT

Minimum Qualifications :

  • BSEE/BSME/BSCE

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Desire to learn a diverse skill set including, air handling, contamination elimination and prevention, power distribution, foundations, etc.

  • Strong desire to deliver program management, specifically of Installation contractors.

  • Strong Organizational skills

  • Ability to coordinate activities and develop timing for building Infrastructure and Equipment Installation across multiple organizations.

  • 3D CAD review abilities, ability to read 2D blueprints and construction drawings.

  • Work with Federal, State and Local jurisdictions, and coordinate necessary building permits and inspections.

  • Liaison with Ford Corporate Fire Protection to ensure adequate fire protection for operations to be compliant with AON Insurance Underwriters.

  • Obtain Architectural drawings and Certified Stamped drawings as required for any non Ford Land delivered, structural, fire protection and coordinate validation testing.
