Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:Clinical PharmacySchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Infectious Disease is the co-leader of the antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) alongside the physician co-leaders. As such, is responsible for supporting antimicrobial stewardship initiatives such as antibiotic monitoring and utilization programs. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will work collaboratively to improve patient care outcomes while minimizing unintended consequences of antimicrobial therapy. This person will work to improve antimicrobial drug utilization, reduce antimicrobial drug costs, and decrease the emergence of antimicrobial resistance through clinical interventions, guideline and protocol development, and the use of other clinical decision support tools and practices.

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Infectious Disease is responsible for the provision of safe, effective, appropriate and cost-effective medication therapy to patients in the area of Infectious Disease. This person is responsible for monitoring both inpatient and outpatient infectious disease patients receiving antimicrobial therapy. This person will work with the ID team in helping to manage and monitor antimicrobial therapy. This person will ensure adherence to regulatory standards and hospital policies and procedures. This person will provide experiential education for present and future health care practitioners, support drug-related research and implement quality improvement initiatives.

Department Specific Job Details:

Education:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy OR Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy is required.

Certifications:

  • Licensed pharmacist and eligible for pharmacist licensure in the State of Ohio required

  • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency OR

  • PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency or PGY2 Infectious Diseases residency OR

  • Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist or Board Certified Infectious Disease Pharmacist OR

  • 4 years of pediatric pharmacy experience or infectious diseases experience

Education Requirements:

Bachelors: Pharmacy (Required), Doctorate: Pharmacy (Required)

Certification/License Requirements:

Rph Ohio - Registered pharmacist - Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
